  3. What is Colour ?

    What is Color?

Color is one of the six essential elements of art and is a fundamental way we describe and understand the world around us. It is created by the way an object reflects or emits light, and our eyes perceive these reflections through special cells in the retina called cones. Humans are trichromats, meaning we have three types of cones that allow us to see a wide range of colors.

    Color has three main properties:

    • Hue – another word for the color itself (like red, blue, or yellow).

    • Value – the lightness or darkness of a color.

    • Intensity – the brightness or dullness of a color.

Colors can also be grouped into families, such as primary, secondary, tertiary, warm, cool, analogous, and complementary colors, which help artists create harmony, contrast, and depth in visual art.

In essence, color is not just a visual sensation but a powerful tool in art, design, and communication, making it one of the most important building blocks of creativity.

The cheapest option isn’t always the most cost-effective — reliable suppliers and proper specifications protect both products and reputation.
